Lakhisarai district is observing a Family Planning Fortnight from July 11 to July 31. The primary goal of this initiative is to raise awareness among the community about the importance of small families and the various methods of family planning. As part of this drive, a health fair was organized at the Sadar Hospital, Lakhisarai, inaugurated by the District Program Manager (DPM) of the District Health Committee.

During the inauguration, the DPM reiterated the slogan 'Small Family, Happy Family,' emphasizing that it is not just a slogan but a foundation for a healthy and prosperous life. He highlighted the benefits of family planning, stating its importance for the health of both mother and child, as well as its role in improving the family's economic condition. Fewer children allow parents to focus better on their children's education, health, and nutrition.

The health fair provided detailed information on both permanent and temporary family planning methods. Health workers explained permanent solutions like male and female sterilization, alongside temporary methods such as contraceptive pills, condoms, Antara injections, and Copper-T. Attendees were encouraged to adopt these methods, and their queries were addressed comprehensively.

The Health Department aims to ensure that a maximum number of people benefit from family planning services during this fortnight. Health camps will also be organized in rural areas, and ASHA workers will conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to population control and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, fostering a healthier and more prosperous society.
