Devotees Stranded for Hours in Traffic Jam at Madanpur Devi Sthan
Even after Navratri and Dussehra, a large crowd of devotees is flocking to the Madanpur Devi Sthan, located in the Madanpur forest of Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR). On Friday, a significant number of devotees arrived from morning to offer prayers and seek blessings from the Goddess. The increase in traffic from two-wheelers, four-wheelers, tractors, and tempos led to a massive traffic jam on the Madanpur-Paniyaha main road by afternoon.
Long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road, severely affecting movement. Along with devotees, travelers commuting between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, pedestrians, and even police vehicles were caught in the jam. Due to the excessive number of vehicles, traffic crawled on the road. After a brief period of normal movement, the jam would recur, causing significant delays for travelers trying to reach their destinations.
According to local residents, many devotees could not visit the Devi Sthan on Dussehra's Dashami Tithi, which fell on Tuesday. Consequently, a large number of people arrived on Friday, leading to the collapse of the traffic system. Those stuck in the jam had to endure difficulties amidst intense sun and heat, with women, children, and the elderly facing particular hardships.
The Naurangia police team worked tirelessly throughout the day to clear the jam and restore smooth traffic flow. Bagaha SDPO Nihar Bhushan stated that a police team has been deployed to control the traffic situation and maintain normal movement.
