A tragic road accident in Madhepura district's Alamnagar police station area on Tuesday turned a family's joy into sorrow as they were returning from a wedding. A speeding and uncontrolled tractor collided with their motorcycle, resulting in the spot death of a maternal aunt and her eight-year-old niece. The young man riding the bike sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Alamnagar Community Health Center.

The deceased have been identified as Sunita Devi (40), a resident of Srinagar, Chautham police station area in Khagaria district, and her eight-year-old niece Ananya Kumari. Ananya was from Ujaan village, Bithan police station area in Samastipur district. According to family members, Sunita Devi, along with her son Roshan Kumar and niece Ananya, had attended a relative's wedding in Gopalpur village, Alamnagar block. On Tuesday, they were returning home by bike when, near Bishanpur village on the Khurhan-Bishanpur road, a tractor emerging from a field onto the main road violently struck their motorcycle.

Following the accident, local residents immediately rushed to the scene and transported all three injured to the Alamnagar Community Health Center. Doctors declared Sunita Devi and Ananya Kumari dead upon examination, noting severe head and other bodily injuries. The injured youth, Roshan Kumar, is still receiving treatment, but his condition is reported to be out of danger.

Eyewitnesses stated that the tractor driver fled the scene with the vehicle after the accident. Upon receiving information, Alamnagar police arrived at the spot and sent both bodies for post-mortem. Police are currently raiding various locations in search of the absconding driver and are also investigating the causes of the accident.
