Encroachment Removed from Government Land in Madhepura's Pariharpur, Family's 20-Year-Old Home Demolished
In Pariharpur Ward-10, under Bihariganj police station in Madhepura district, authorities on Saturday removed an encroachment from government land. Following instructions from Sub-Divisional Officer Pankaj Kumar Ghosh, a house was demolished using a JCB in the presence of a large police force. The panchayat plans to construct a wedding hall on this land.
Shivanandan Mukhia had built a house of thatch and tin on approximately 17.575 dismil of government land in Pariharpur Ward-10 of Bidi Ranpal Panchayat, Bihariganj police station area. His family had reportedly been residing there for about 20 years. According to the administration, this land is earmarked for the construction of a wedding hall under the Chief Minister Kanya Utthan Yojana.
Authorities stated that a prior attempt to remove the encroachment was made, during which the family requested seven days to vacate the land. However, the land was not cleared within the stipulated time. Consequently, on Saturday, the house was again demolished with a JCB. Around two dozen police personnel were present at the scene.
Shivanandan Mukhia's mother, Chandrika Devi, objected to the action, claiming the land was private property purchased from Chano Mukhia. She also asserted that a related case was pending in court and that she had not received any notice. However, the administration clarified that the encroachment removal was carried out under government orders. Officials present included Udakishunganj's acting Circle Officer Om Prakash Rajput, Block Welfare Officer Atul Kumar, and Station House Officer Lavkush Kumar.
