A patient admitted for a hydrocele operation at Gita Narayan Hospital in Alamnagar block headquarters, Madhepura, died on Wednesday. Following the death, agitated family members caused extensive damage and vandalism within the hospital premises. The family has accused the doctors of gross negligence during treatment, claiming that an incision was made in the patient's abdomen during the operation, leading to a deterioration in his condition. However, these allegations have not yet been officially confirmed.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Barhara Kothi in Purnia district. He was admitted to Gita Narayan Hospital for a hydrocele operation. The family alleges that doctors acted negligently during the surgery, making an incision in the patient's abdomen, after which his health steadily declined, ultimately resulting in his death. Upon receiving news of the patient's demise, family members and their companions became enraged, leading to a riot and vandalism at the hospital. The family also claims that the hospital administrator and the involved doctor fled the scene after the incident, creating a chaotic atmosphere for a considerable time.

Upon receiving information about the commotion, police from several stations arrived at the scene. Udakishunganj SDM Pankaj Ghosh also reached the spot and spoke with the agitated family members, assuring them of an investigation and appropriate action, which subsequently calmed them down. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it to Sadar Hospital Madhepura for post-mortem. The actual cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report and further investigation. The incident has raised serious questions about the hospital's functioning and its treatment protocols.
