Madhepura's Pramod Singh's Electricity Bill Becomes Zero, Supplies 406 Units to Grid via Solar Plant
Pramod Singh, a resident of Dhurgaon Ward-11 in Madhepura, has successfully installed a 3-kilowatt solar plant on his rooftop under the 'Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana'. As a result, his monthly electricity bill has dropped to zero. Furthermore, he has generated 406 units of surplus electricity in one month, which he has supplied back to the grid.
Singh stated that he previously benefited from the Bihar government's 125-unit free electricity scheme. However, after learning about the 'Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana', he decided to install the solar plant. He received a subsidy of 98,000 rupees from the central government for this 3-kilowatt installation.
Now, almost all electrical appliances in Singh's home, including the refrigerator, geyser, washing machine, induction stove, fans, and CCTV cameras, are powered by solar energy. This has not only eliminated his electricity bill concerns but also reduced his dependence on domestic gas, as he now uses an induction stove for cooking.
The unique aspect of Singh's solar plant is its ability to produce surplus electricity even after meeting his household needs. The supply of 406 additional units to the grid in a month demonstrates the potential of solar plants to fulfill domestic electricity requirements while also generating excess power. Singh encourages others to leverage government schemes to adopt clean energy and reduce their electricity expenses.
