An international human trafficking syndicate has been exposed in Madhubani, leading to the arrest of four individuals. Police recovered 62 original passports from various states and districts, along with other crucial items. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yogendra Kumar shared this information during a press conference on Monday evening.

The SSP stated that continuous vehicle checking drives are being conducted in the district to maintain law and order and curb crime. As part of this, around 2 AM on the night of September 6th and 7th, 2026, घोघरडीहा police station personnel were patrolling and checking vehicles near Hanuman Chowk. At that time, two individuals on a motorcycle, coming from the direction of Shatrupatti, attempted to flee upon seeing the police. The police cordoned them off and apprehended them.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mohd. Irshad (son of Mohd. Arju) from Kisnipatti and Rafi Ahmed (son of Safi Ahmed) from Shatrupatti. During their search, 62 original passports from different states and districts, five empty registered envelopes, and two mobile phones were found in their bag. Based on initial interrogation, the police conducted raids and also arrested the alleged mastermind of the case, Mohd. Arju (son of Mohd. Khalil) from Kisnipatti, and rural postal worker Mohd. Adnan Hussain (son of Kamre Alam) from Shatrupatti.

According to the police, Mohd. Arju lured people with promises of jobs abroad, collected their passports, and then sent them overseas on tourist visas for two lakh rupees per passport. The police seized a total of 62 passports, one motorcycle, four mobile phones, and five postal envelopes. A case has been registered under relevant sections at घोघरडीहा police station, and all four accused are being sent to jail. The police are continuing their efforts to arrest agents linked to this syndicate in Patna and Kanpur.
