In a significant operation against drug trafficking in Madhubani district, a joint team of the 48th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Jaynagar's D Company Gangaur, and Bihar STF has arrested a smuggler and seized 145 kilograms of ganja. The arrested individual has been identified as Umesh Mahto, a resident of Gangaur village.

Based on intelligence received, the joint team from Bihar STF and D Company Gangaur commenced covert surveillance approximately one kilometer inside Indian territory from the border pillar. During this operation, the team observed a suspicious individual carrying sacks from the spot and heading towards Gangaur. The team intercepted and apprehended him.

Upon searching, 145 kilograms of ganja were recovered from his possession. After completing the arrest and seizure formalities, the accused and the seized ganja were handed over to Harlakhi Police Station for further legal action. Harlakhi Station House Officer Ranjit Kumar stated that an FIR would be registered in the case, and the accused would be sent to judicial custody.
