Mahagathbandhan's 'Save Democracy March' in Dehri: PM Modi, Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Effigies Burnt, Demand for Re-election in Bihar
The India Alliance organized a 'Save Democracy March' in Dehri-on-Sone, Rohtas, on Wednesday. The march commenced from Ambedkar Chowk and culminated at Karpuri Thakur Chowk. During the protest, Mahagathbandhan workers vociferously chanted slogans against the central government and the Election Commission, carrying placards demanding the arrest of 'election thief Gyanesh Kumar' and the cancellation of SIR. Effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were also set ablaze by the protestors. The demonstration briefly caused a traffic jam at Karpuri Thakur Chowk, which was later cleared by the police.
RJD leader Guddu Chandravanshi alleged that the Election Commission, in collusion with the central government, deliberately removed the names of the poor, backward, and Dalits from the voter list. He demanded re-elections in Bihar, claiming that approximately 60 to 65 lakh names were removed from the state's voter list. Former District Council President Nathuni Paswan and CPI(ML) leader Ashok Singh, along with other Mahagathbandhan leaders, also participated in the protest, condemning the Election Commission's actions. The leaders called for the immediate re-addition of the removed names to the voter list and for fresh elections to be conducted based on the old voter list.
