Maharajganj police have successfully busted a large international cyber fraud network, leading to the arrest of a Bihar resident. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Mohd. Nabish from Islampur, Madhubani district, Bihar, was apprehended with 151 active SIM cards, a 32-slot SIM box, fake Aadhaar cards, and other cyber equipment. Superintendent of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi announced a cash reward of ₹25,000 for the team.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Nabish used the 32-slot SIM box to convert incoming international calls into Indian mobile calls using 32 active SIM cards simultaneously. This method effectively concealed the actual location of the calls, making foreign numbers appear as local ones. This technology was exploited for various cyber frauds, including fake bank calls, OTP scams, and other digital deceptions, causing significant revenue loss to telecommunication companies.

The recovered items include the SIM box, active SIM cards, two keypad mobile phones, a Wi-Fi router, LAN cables, power adapters, two fake Aadhaar cards, and a bag. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Indian Telecommunication Act-2023, and the IT Act at the cyber police station, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The Superintendent of Police lauded the joint efforts of the cyber police station, SOG, SWAT team, and surveillance cell. He urged the public to report any suspicious calls, links, or online fraud immediately to the 1930 cyber helpline or the nearest cyber police station.
