In Marhaura, Chapra district, local residents are expressing strong anger after bricks from a recently constructed footpath on Station Road, built at a cost of millions, were uprooted by a JCB. On Thursday morning, a municipal council JCB, while removing excess soil accumulated on the drain beside the road near Bandhan Bank on Station Road, also dislodged the paved brick soling beneath. These bricks were subsequently loaded onto a tractor and taken away.

Local residents allege that the road and footpath were recently constructed at a cost of crores of rupees. The renovation of Station Road, which had been in a dilapidated state for 10-15 years, had brought significant relief to commuters and locals. However, they are now extremely upset that the footpath has been damaged merely two to three months after its construction. People believe that this action will adversely affect the government-funded infrastructure.

Responding to inquiries, Harishchandra, the Executive Officer of Marhaura Nagar Panchayat, stated that laborers were only instructed to remove the excess soil accumulated on the drain. He assured that if the footpath's soling or bricks were indeed uprooted, he would gather complete information and investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, former Saran Lok Sabha candidate Dr. Rohini Acharya has criticized the government, labeling the proposed satellite township project in Bihar as anti-farmer. She stated that acquiring fertile, multi-crop land in an agrarian state like Bihar for satellite townships would create social and economic problems for farmers, potentially affecting the state's food security and agriculture-based economy. She urged the government to reconsider its land acquisition policy, keeping farmers' interests in mind.
