In Bihar, it's a common sight that government departments suddenly become hyper-active when a prominent leader or minister announces a visit to an area. A similar scene unfolded recently when, upon receiving news of a minister's arrival, the cleaning of a railway overbridge (ROB) was initiated in a hurried manner.

The ROB, which was often covered in dust and debris, suddenly began to shine. Local residents stated that this overbridge had been neglected for a long time. Little attention was ever paid to its cleanliness. Piles of garbage and filth accumulated around the bridge, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. However, as soon as the news of the minister's visit spread, the concerned department sprang into action.

From morning, sanitation workers arrived at the ROB with brooms and water. In a cleaning drive that lasted several hours, the bridge was thoroughly cleaned. Accumulated waste and debris from under and around the bridge were also removed. Local residents were surprised to witness this swift action. While some expressed happiness, many others voiced their displeasure that such cleaning only occurs when a VIP is expected.

One local resident commented, "If this promptness were shown regularly, the face of our city would change. We are happy that the minister is coming; at least the bridge got cleaned because of it." Meanwhile, others termed it a 'show-off' and said that it's only temporary, and the situation will revert to its previous state once the minister leaves.

This incident once again highlights that government departments often prioritize VIP movements over regular maintenance and public service. It is hoped that this cleaning drive is not merely a facade but proves to be a positive step towards regular maintenance of such public assets in the future.
