The weather pattern in Bhagalpur and South Bihar is set to change significantly in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' for heavy rainfall in Bhagalpur and several other districts of South Bihar due to the activation of the monsoon trough. This alert indicates a high probability of intense rain, which could impact daily life.

According to the IMD, the monsoon trough has shifted southwards from its normal position and is now moving towards Bihar via Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This shift will lead to increased moisture levels and cloud formation across South Bihar. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to commence within the next 24 to 48 hours in these regions.

After experiencing humid conditions for several days, Bhagalpur can anticipate a drop in temperature and some relief. However, heavy rainfall also brings the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions in urban centers. Farmers have been advised to take precautions for their crops. The activation of the trough line will also alter wind patterns, bringing more moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal, ensuring good rainfall not only in Bhagalpur but also in other South Bihar districts like Banka, Munger, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas, and Kaimur. Residents are also cautioned against lightning. District administrations have been instructed to remain vigilant and prepared for any emergency.
