Mothers in Jagdishpur town and surrounding areas observed the Nirjala Jitiya fast on Saturday, praying for the long life, good health, and prosperity of their children. Traditional rituals and prayers were performed in homes from the morning. In the evening, women gathered at various temples and Thakurbadis across the town to listen to the Jitiya Vrat Katha (fasting story). Special prayers were held at places like the Mahavir Mandir in Sadar Bazar and Radhakrishna Kansyakar Thakurbadi.

Many women also listened to the story at their homes with elderly family members and prayed for their children. This fast is considered significant for the protection, longevity, and prosperity of offspring. During the fast, mothers worship Lord Jimutavahana, who, according to legend, protected the Naga dynasty. Women wore traditional Jitiya ornaments and offered prasad as part of the rituals. The Nirjala (waterless) fast will conclude on Sunday with the 'paran' (breaking of the fast).
