A dispute over water from a buffalo bath escalated into a violent confrontation in Jihuli village, under Patahi police station in Motihari district, Bihar. The incident resulted in the fatal stabbing of two individuals, including a woman, while another person sustained serious injuries. The deceased have been identified as Jami Akhtar (36) and Madina Khatoon (40). Maseeh Akhtar is currently undergoing treatment at Patahi Community Health Center (CHC) and remains in critical condition.

The heinous act was witnessed by 10-year-old Rehmatullah, who saw his mother and uncle being murdered before his eyes. Rehmatullah recounted that in the morning, a dispute arose between his father and Anil Singh over water from the buffalo bath, which the police had intervened to resolve. In the evening, Sanjay Singh and his son Akash, accompanied by others, arrived at their home and attacked his father, Jami Akhtar, with a knife. When his uncle, Maseeh Akhtar, and mother, Madina Khatoon, intervened to save his father, the assailants also stabbed them. All three collapsed on the spot.

Nagma Khatoon, the sister-in-law of one of the deceased, stated that in the morning, Maseeh Akhtar was bathing his buffalo on the road, and the water was flowing towards Anil Singh's house. This led to Anil Singh verbally abusing and physically assaulting him. The police had arrived to de-escalate the situation. However, in the evening, Anil Singh, along with several others, launched an attack. Family members rushed the injured to the hospital, where Jami Akhtar and Madina Khatoon were declared dead.

Jami Akhtar worked as a laborer in a plywood factory and was supporting three children, while Madina Khatoon had five children. Their deaths have plunged the family into deep sorrow. Upon receiving information about the incident, Abhishek Kumar, the in-charge DSP of Pakaridayal, took swift action, detaining two suspects for interrogation. Raids are ongoing to apprehend the other accused.
