Two individuals were killed and one critically injured in a horrific road accident in Motihari late Thursday night. The incident occurred near Bankat in the Mufassil police station area when a car and two motorcycles collided while attempting to avoid a speeding gas-laden truck.

The deceased have been identified as Shiv and Pawan. Shiv was en route to his brother-in-law's house in Sugauli, having told his wife, Khushi Kumari, that he would return the next day. Tragically, only news of his death reached his in-laws. According to eyewitnesses, a motorcycle approaching from the Chakia side was traveling at high speed. The rider lost control at a slight bend in the road and collided with a car and another motorcycle. Shiv and Pawan, who was on the second bike, died on the spot. Pawan, a resident of Hardiya village in Raghunathpur police station area, was returning home after working as a laborer in Motihari. Abhimanyu, who was with Pawan, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The car involved in the accident was also damaged.

Shiv had been married just four months prior, and his family, once joyful, is now plunged into grief. His wife, Khushi Kumari, is inconsolable. Pawan's family is also devastated; he had been married for about five years and leaves behind two young children. He was the sole breadwinner for his family.

Despite being informed, the Mufassil police were late in arriving, which angered local villagers who then blocked the road. Mufassil and Pipra Kothi police station in-charge, Brajesh Kumar, eventually arrived at the scene, pacified the crowd, and cleared the blockade. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination the same night and handed over to their families.
