Patahi police station in East Champaran district has made a significant breakthrough against liquor smugglers, seizing 500 bottles of Nepali liquor and arresting two individuals. Acting on a tip-off, the Patahi police launched an operation after receiving information that smugglers were transporting a large quantity of Nepali liquor via e-rickshaw.

Under the leadership of Patahi Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjeev Kumar Ranjan, a team was formed and swiftly initiated a search operation in the Patahi block area. During the operation, an e-rickshaw was identified as suspicious. The police intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough search. Hidden in a secret compartment within the e-rickshaw, 500 bottles of Nepali liquor, totaling approximately 250 liters, were discovered and confiscated.

Along with the seizure of the liquor, the two individuals on board the e-rickshaw, identified as liquor smugglers, were apprehended. They are currently being interrogated to uncover further details about their network and other individuals involved in this illegal trade. According to police sources, the arrested smugglers had been involved in this illicit business for a considerable period, bringing liquor from Nepal for distribution in various parts of Bihar. The action was carried out under the Excise Act.

SHO Sanjeev Kumar Ranjan stated that the police are continuously conducting operations to curb liquor smuggling in border areas. He emphasized the police's commitment to enforcing prohibition and assured that no liquor smugglers would be spared. This operation has sent a strong message to liquor smugglers, with the police vowing strict legal action against anyone found involved in this illegal activity.
