Villagers in Ward 12 and 15 of Muriyaro Panchayat, Ujiyarpur block, Samastipur district, are grappling with severe electricity and water shortages. They are demanding the replacement of a burnt 63 KVA transformer with a new 100 KVA unit, restoration of 24-hour power supply, replacement of damaged wires, and repair of the defunct 'Nal-Jal' (tap water) scheme. On Sunday, activists from CPI (ML) and local residents organized a protest march from Ward 15 to Ward 12. Following the march, an effigy of the Executive Engineer of Samastipur was burnt during a protest meeting.

The meeting was chaired by branch secretary Amarjeet Paswan. Senior CPI (ML) leader Mahavir Poddar stated that Ward 12 and 15 of Muriyaro Panchayat are predominantly Dalit and Mahadalit areas, facing neglect from public representatives and the administration. He highlighted that due to a burnt transformer for the past week, approximately one thousand families in these wards are living in heat and darkness. The disruption in electricity supply has also halted the 'Nal-Jal' scheme, leading to a severe crisis of water for drinking, bathing, and washing.

Mahavir Poddar warned the administration that if a 100 KVA transformer is not installed and electricity supply is not restored within three days, villagers will block the Samastipur-Rosera SH-55 until their demands are met. The gathering was also addressed by Khet Gramin Mazdoor Sabha (KGMMS) block secretary Tanjay Prakash, Vipin Paswan, Raj Kumar Paswan, Sujit Pandit, Kundan Kumar Paswan, Khushboo Khatoon, Gudiya Khatoon, Md. Tajuddin Khan, Sita Devi, Pramila Devi, and America Devi, among others. Hundreds of villagers participated in the protest.
