Heavy rainfall and rising water levels in rivers have disrupted life in Muzaffarpur district. Several areas are facing flood-like conditions, causing immense difficulties for residents. Adding to these woes, a makeshift bamboo bridge (chachri pul) in Muzaffarpur has been washed away, exacerbating the problems for locals. This bridge served as a crucial link for villagers, particularly as the only means for children to reach school.

Following the collapse, students are now forced to risk their lives to attend school. They are compelled to cross the swollen river using small boats or bamboo poles. This situation is particularly alarming, as even a slight misstep could lead to a major accident. Parents are deeply concerned about their children's safety but are forced to send them on this perilous journey due to the importance of education.

Local residents state that they have repeatedly appealed to the administration for the construction of a permanent bridge, but their pleas have gone unheeded. Every year during the monsoon season, this problem escalates, and the makeshift bridges are washed away, completely disrupting transportation. Villagers also have to travel long distances for their daily activities.

Continuous increases in water levels have inundated several low-lying areas, submerging fields and farms. Farmers fear significant crop damage. The administration needs to address this serious situation immediately and initiate relief efforts in the affected areas to provide some respite from this disaster. Ensuring the safety of children by establishing alternative arrangements is critically important.
