Former Union Minister Nagmani Kushwaha has called for judicial reforms in Mohania, Kaimur district, demanding the abolition of the collegium system and the establishment of a 'Judiciary Service Commission'. Kushwaha emphasized the necessity of an impartial judiciary in a democracy, stating that the current collegium system has led to the dominance of a few families within the judicial system.

Kushwaha presented statistics, highlighting that approximately 96% of Supreme Court judges and 75-80% of High Court judges belong to the upper castes. In contrast, the 90% of the population comprising SC, ST, OBC, and minorities is represented by only 4% in the Supreme Court and 10-12% in High Courts. He argued that the collegium system prevents deserving individuals from getting opportunities in the judiciary.

He has urged the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and President to abolish the collegium system and form a 'Judiciary Service Commission' akin to the UPSC. This, he believes, would ensure that judges are appointed based on merit and qualifications, leading to fair representation for all sections of society in the judiciary. Nagmani Kushwaha warned of a nationwide agitation, including gherao of Parliament and the Supreme Court, if his demands are not met.
