A minor dispute over bike parking escalated into a fatal shooting in Porai village, Harnaut police station area, Nalanda, on Tuesday night. During an attempt to resolve the conflict, a neighbor allegedly shot and killed 47-year-old tractor driver Sunil Kumar. Sunil Kumar, son of Jagdish Mahto, was a resident of Porai.

The incident began when two unidentified motorcycles were found abandoned in a narrow lane of the locality. Local women initially inquired about the owners but received no information. Subsequently, the ward councilor was informed, and a call was made to Dial 112 police. Meanwhile, two neighboring brothers, Saurabh Kumar and Gaurav, arrived at the scene, claiming the bikes belonged to their relatives.

According to the victim's brother, David Kumar, and grandmother, Malti Devi, the situation quickly escalated into an argument and verbal abuse between the two parties. While villagers and elders were attempting to calm the situation and mediate, accused Saurabh allegedly retrieved a weapon from his house and fired a shot at Sunil Kumar amidst the crowd. Sunil collapsed on the spot after being shot in the head. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Family members stated that Sunil worked as a tractor driver outside the village and had only returned home on leave three days prior to the incident.

Sadar DSP-2 Rakesh Kumar Ranjan confirmed that a person died in a shooting incident stemming from a dispute over bike parking. The police have conducted a post-mortem examination and handed over the body to the family. Raids are underway at potential hideouts to apprehend the accused. Further legal action will be taken upon receiving a written application from the family.
