A minor dispute over bike parking escalated into a fatal incident in Porai village, Harnaul police station area, Nalanda district, Bihar, on Tuesday night. Sunil Kumar, a 47-year-old tractor driver, was shot dead by a neighbor during the altercation. Sunil sustained a gunshot wound to the head and collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The incident has created a tense atmosphere in the village.

Sunil Kumar, son of the late Jagdish Mahto, originally from Porai village, had just returned home for a holiday three days prior. The dispute began when two unattended motorcycles were found parked in a narrow lane. Local women informed the ward councilor and dialed 112 to call the police. Meanwhile, neighbors Saurabh Kumar and Gaurav arrived, claiming the bikes belonged to their relatives, leading to an argument over the parking.

According to Sunil's brother David Kumar and grandmother Malti Devi, the argument escalated into a heated exchange. While villagers and elders attempted to mediate, Saurabh allegedly retrieved a weapon from his house and shot Sunil Kumar in the head amidst the crowd. Sunil was immediately taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His family is in shock and grief, unable to comprehend the tragic loss over a trivial matter.

Sadar DSP-2 Rakesh Kumar Ranjan stated that raids are underway to apprehend the accused. He confirmed that the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem, and further legal action will be taken upon receiving a written application from the family. The police are actively investigating the case.
