अररिया जिले के नरपतगंज नगर पंचायत क्षेत्र में जल निकासी की खराब व्यवस्था के कारण स्थानीय लोग भारी परेशानी का सामना कर रहे हैं। यहां की कई मुख्य पक्की सड़कें बारिश के पानी से भर गई हैं, जिससे वे नालों जैसी दिख रही हैं। सड़कों पर जमा गंदा पानी पैदल चलने वालों और दोपहिया वाहन चालकों दोनों के लिए आवागमन को मुश्किल बना रहा है।
नरपतगंज मुख्यालय स्थित हॉस्पिटल रोड, नगर पंचायत कार्यालय के पास और बैंक के आसपास की मुख्य सड़कों पर यह स्थिति सबसे ज्यादा खराब है। इन रास्तों से प्रतिदिन हजारों लोग गुजरते हैं। पानी जमा होने के कारण सड़कों पर जगह-जगह गहरे गड्ढे बन गए हैं, जिससे आए दिन छोटी-मोटी दुर्घटनाएं होती रहती हैं। विशेषकर महिलाएं, बच्चे और दोपहिया वाहन चालक इस समस्या से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित हैं।
स्थानीय निवासियों का आरोप है कि नगर पंचायत इस गंभीर समस्या का स्थायी समाधान करने के बजाय केवल खानापूर्ति कर रही है। उनका कहना है कि जमा पानी को टैंकरों से हटाकर अस्थाई तौर पर राहत दिखाई जाती है, लेकिन कुछ ही समय बाद स्थिति फिर से जस की तस हो जाती है। लोगों ने नगर पंचायत के कार्यप्रणाली पर सवाल उठाते हुए धन के दुरुपयोग और लापरवाही के आरोप लगाए हैं। उनका कहना है कि नगर पंचायत क्षेत्र में पानी निकासी की कोई ठोस व्यवस्था नहीं है, जिसके कारण हर बरसात में यही समस्या उत्पन्न होती है। इसके बावजूद अब तक कोई प्रभावी कदम नहीं उठाया गया है। इससे अधिकारियों और जनप्रतिनिधियों के प्रति लोगों में नाराजगी बढ़ रही है।
इस संबंध में नगर पंचायत के कार्यपालक पदाधिकारी विकास कुमार ने आश्वासन दिया है कि समस्या की जांच कराई जाएगी और जल्द ही इसका समाधान किया जाएगा। हालांकि, स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि उन्हें केवल आश्वासन मिलते हैं, जबकि जमीन पर कोई ठोस व्यवस्था नहीं की जाती। लोगों ने चेतावनी दी है कि यदि समय रहते जल निकासी की समस्या का स्थायी समाधान नहीं हुआ, तो वे आंदोलन करने को मजबूर होंगे।
Residents of Narpatganj Nagar Panchayat in Araria district are grappling with severe issues due to a dilapidated drainage system. Many main paved roads in the area have become waterlogged, resembling open sewers, making commuting extremely difficult for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders alike.
The situation is particularly dire on Hospital Road, near the Nagar Panchayat office, and around the bank in Narpatganj headquarters. Thousands of people use these routes daily. Stagnant water has led to numerous potholes, causing frequent minor accidents. Women, children, and two-wheeler riders are among the most affected.
Local residents accuse the Nagar Panchayat of merely performing superficial actions instead of finding a permanent solution. They claim that water is temporarily removed by tankers, but the problem resurfaces shortly after. Allegations of misuse of funds and negligence have been leveled against the Nagar Panchayat's functioning. Residents state that the absence of a robust drainage system causes this recurring issue every monsoon, yet no effective measures have been taken so far. This has fueled public anger towards the officials and elected representatives.
In response, Vikas Kumar, the Executive Officer of Narpatganj Nagar Panchayat, assured that the problem would be investigated, and a solution would be implemented soon. However, locals remain skeptical, asserting that they only receive assurances with no tangible action on the ground. They have warned of protests if a permanent solution to the drainage problem is not found promptly.
