The high walls of Nawada Divisional Jail may restrict the freedom of its inmates, but they cannot hinder their pursuit of education and hope for a better future. The jail administration has initiated a commendable program to connect inmates with education, literacy, computer training, and preparation for competitive examinations. Currently, 85 male inmates are pursuing matriculation through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), while 14 male inmates are preparing for intermediate examinations.

Furthermore, 28 male inmates are enrolled in the CNF course through Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), providing them with opportunities for formal education. Significant efforts are also underway to make illiterate inmates literate. A total of 141 inmates, including 101 men and 40 women, are participating in the literacy program. The aim is to enable them to read, write, and utilize written information in their daily lives. Special emphasis is being placed on educating female inmates to help them recognize their potential.

Recognizing the need for technical knowledge in the evolving world, the divisional jail also offers a basic computer course, with 35 male inmates currently enrolled. This knowledge is expected to assist them in finding employment opportunities upon their release. Additionally, 31 male inmates are preparing for competitive examinations, provided with study materials and proper guidance.

Brijesh Singh Mehta, Superintendent of Nawada Divisional Jail, stated that efforts are being made to provide better educational facilities for inmates so they can receive education while incarcerated. Through education, inmates are gaining knowledge, boosting their confidence, and exploring better options for the future, which instills hope for their reform and a brighter tomorrow.
