A newborn baby girl with a cleft lip was found on the banks of the Saryu River, under the Jaiprabha Setu, which connects Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which occurred in the Manjhi police station area of Saran district, caused a stir in the locality. On Tuesday, local villagers discovered the infant near pillar number 8 of the bridge and immediately informed the police via Dial-112.

Police arrived at the scene and took the baby to the Community Health Center (CHC) Manjhi, where she has been admitted for medical examination and care. Dr. Rohit Kumar, the in-charge medical officer at CHC Manjhi, stated that the baby is healthy after initial checks, though further medical examination might be needed due to her cleft lip.

The circumstances under which the child was abandoned remain unclear. As the Jaiprabha Setu links two states, it is also unknown which state the baby belongs to. Police are investigating to identify the baby and locate her family. This incident raises serious concerns about the safety and care of newborns, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the reasons behind this abandonment. The primary focus now is to ensure the infant receives proper medical attention and protection.
