A worker, Umesh Pandit, who was injured while working at the Central Store of the NTPC plant in Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, has died during treatment. The 53-year-old deceased, a resident of Banshipur, Kahalgaon, succumbed to his injuries. Following his death, on Friday morning around 7 AM, his family brought his body to NTPC's main Gate No. 1 and began protesting, demanding appropriate compensation.

According to available information, Umesh Pandit was seriously injured on August 25 while working in the Central Store. After the accident, he was taken to Kahalgaon Sub-Divisional Hospital. Due to his critical condition, after initial treatment, he was referred to Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur. Family members stated that Umesh was undergoing treatment at Mayaganj Hospital for approximately one month before he passed away on September 24.

The news of his death plunged the family into grief. The family alleges that Umesh's death was a direct result of injuries sustained during work, and therefore, NTPC management should provide adequate compensation to his family. As news of the protest with the body at the gate spread, a crowd gathered near the NTPC premises. The family remains firm on their demands. As of now, NTPC management has not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
