Villagers in Araria district have expressed relief as the water level of the Parman River has begun to recede. For the past few days, continuous rainfall and water inflow from upper catchment areas had caused the Parman River to swell, posing a significant flood threat to villages situated along its banks. Water had entered several low-lying areas, exacerbating the difficulties for residents and disrupting transportation.

The rising river level had inundated agricultural fields, raising concerns about crop damage. Villagers also faced considerable challenges in moving out of their homes. Many families were preparing to relocate to safer places due to the fear of flooding. However, a reduction in rainfall over the past 24 to 48 hours and a slowdown in water flow in the upper reaches of the river have led to a gradual decrease in the Parman River's water level.

With the receding water, the immediate threat of floods has diminished. Water has started to recede from the fields, easing farmers' worries about potential crop loss. Villagers can now resume their daily activities normally. Local administration had been continuously monitoring the situation and was prepared to handle any emergency. Even after the water level decreased, the administration has advised people to remain vigilant, as river levels can rise again at any time during the monsoon season.

This relief might be temporary as the monsoon remains active, and there is a possibility of further rainfall in the coming days. Therefore, both villagers and the administration need to remain alert. Nevertheless, the current situation has certainly brought some respite to the people.
