A major action has been taken within the police department in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Eight police personnel, including five ASIs and three constables posted at Phulwari Sharif police station, were suspended on November 4, 2026. They are accused of allegedly releasing two individuals involved in drug trafficking after taking a large sum of money. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the matter, and further legal action is underway.

According to police officials, stricter action will be taken against the concerned personnel if they are found guilty during the investigation. This incident has caused a stir within the Patna police department. As per information, on October 26, 2026, Phulwari Sharif police had raided individuals involved in drug buying and selling based on secret intelligence. During this operation, Akib Khan alias Mohammad Saqib Khan was arrested with narcotics and sent to judicial custody.

During the same operation, Aftab Alam and Ehsan were also apprehended and brought to the police station. It is alleged that the names of Aftab Alam and Ehsan were not recorded in the FIR, and senior officials were not informed. It is further alleged that some policemen involved in the raid took a large sum of money to release both individuals, who were then freed on PR bonds. The matter came to light when an argument broke out among the policemen over the money transaction. Reportedly, a sum of 11 lakh rupees was agreed upon for the release of the accused, to be paid in three installments. A dispute over the final installment is said to have exposed the entire affair.

On Wednesday, Central SP cum Western SP Chandraprakash informed the media that an investigation was conducted, which prima facie revealed the involvement of eight police officers and personnel. The suspended ASIs include Diwakar Prasad, Narad Muni Singh, Ritesh Kumar, Akash Kumar, and Pawan Kumar, while the constables are Sabir Alam, Anand Raj, and Shubham Kumar. The SP stated that an FIR has been registered and legal proceedings are ongoing, with the role of some local individuals also being investigated. Preparations are also underway to arrest the policemen and send them to judicial custody. The situation will become clearer after further investigation and legal processes.
