पटना: राजधानी पटना के कंकड़बाग इलाके की एन-16 प्रोफेसर कॉलोनी में रहने वाले डॉ. उमाशंकर प्रसाद और उनकी पत्नी को रंगदारी के लिए धमकी दिए जाने का मामला सामने आया है। एक अज्ञात नंबर से कॉल करके उनसे 30 लाख रुपये की रंगदारी मांगी गई और पैसे न देने पर जान से मारने की धमकी दी गई।
डॉक्टर दंपती के मोबाइल पर एक अनजान नंबर से लगातार कॉल आ रहे थे। पहली बार कॉल न उठाने पर भी फोन आते रहे। जब कॉल उठाया गया, तो दूसरी तरफ से अपशब्दों का प्रयोग किया गया और 30 लाख रुपये की रंगदारी की मांग की गई। धमकी देने वाले ने कहा कि अगर रकम नहीं दी गई तो उन्हें और उनकी पत्नी को जान से मार दिया जाएगा। डॉ. उमाशंकर प्रसाद ने शुरू में इसे मजाक समझकर कॉल काट दिया।
हालांकि, मामला यहीं नहीं रुका। कुछ देर बाद उसी नंबर से डॉक्टर की पत्नी के फोन पर भी कॉल आया। फोन करने वाले ने उनसे भी 30 लाख रुपये की मांग की और जान से मारने की धमकी दोहराई। लगातार मिल रही इन धमकियों से दंपती बेहद परेशान हो गए।
डॉ. उमाशंकर प्रसाद ने तुरंत पुलिस को घटना की जानकारी दी और जिस नंबर से कॉल आए थे, वह भी पुलिस को उपलब्ध कराया। उन्होंने पत्रकार नगर थाने में लिखित शिकायत दर्ज कराई है। शिकायत मिलते ही पुलिस ने जांच शुरू कर दी है।
पत्रकार नगर थानेदार सोनू कुमार ने बताया कि डॉक्टर की शिकायत के आधार पर मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है और जांच जारी है। प्रारंभिक जांच में मोबाइल नंबर का लोकेशन नवादा जिले के वारिसलीगंज इलाके का मिला है। पुलिस ने कथित आरोपी की पहचान और नाम-पते का सत्यापन भी कर लिया है। पुलिस आरोपी को गिरफ्तार करने की कार्रवाई में जुटी है। पुलिस इस बात की भी जांच कर रही है कि रंगदारी मांगने के पीछे आरोपी का मकसद क्या था और क्या इस मामले में कोई अन्य व्यक्ति भी शामिल है। मोबाइल नंबर और कॉल से जुड़े तकनीकी साक्ष्यों के आधार पर आगे की कार्रवाई तेज की जा रही है।
A doctor couple residing in N-16 Professor Colony, Kankarbagh, Patna, has reported receiving extortion threats. Dr. Umashankar Prasad and his wife were allegedly called from an unknown number, demanding a ransom of ₹30 lakh and threatening them with death if the amount was not paid.
The couple received repeated calls from an unidentified number. Initially, Dr. Prasad dismissed it as a prank and disconnected the call. However, the calls persisted, and the caller eventually contacted Dr. Prasad's wife, reiterating the demand for ₹30 lakh and the death threat. The continuous threats caused significant distress to the couple.
Dr. Umashankar Prasad promptly informed the police and provided them with the phone number from which the calls were made. He filed a written complaint at the Patrakar Nagar Police Station. Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation.
Patrakar Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Sonu Kumar stated that a case has been registered based on the doctor's written complaint. Preliminary investigations revealed the mobile number's location to be in the Warisaliganj area of Nawada district. The police have identified and verified the alleged accused's details and are actively working to apprehend them. Authorities are also investigating the motive behind the extortion attempt and whether any other individuals are involved in the case. Further action is being expedited based on technical evidence related to the mobile number and calls.
