A divorce dispute turned violent on Sunday evening in Saidpur Lodipur village, under Pipra police station in Masaurhi sub-division, Patna. The accused husband, Suraj Kumar, allegedly shot his wife, Ranju Kumari, with the intent to kill her. Ranju Kumari sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the accused fled the scene.

The police acted swiftly, arresting Suraj Kumar within just three hours of the incident. Pipra police registered FIR No. 110/26 based on the statement of the injured Ranju Kumari, invoking sections 126(2)/109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 27 of the Arms Act.

Masaurhi-2 Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kanhaiya Singh stated that the police team utilized human intelligence and technical investigation to track down the accused. Upon his arrest, a country-made pistol used in the incident and his HF Deluxe motorcycle (BR01FW-6937) were recovered based on Suraj Kumar's confession. Police also seized a smartphone from him.

The arrested accused has been identified as Suraj Kumar (29), son of Mahendra Verma, a resident of Bela Tarahri, Piprawan police station, Patna district. Police are now investigating the exact reasons behind the shooting and other aspects of the marital dispute. Further legal action is being pursued in the case.
