Three people died and three others were seriously injured in a tragic road accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Byapur village, under the Maner police station area, near Patna. The incident took place near the Byapur Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan on the Ramji Chak-Bank road when a speeding auto-rickshaw lost control and overturned into a water-filled ditch by the roadside.

Following the accident, the auto came into contact with a low-tension (LT) power line, causing electricity to spread through the water in the ditch. The passengers trapped inside were electrocuted. Pramod Kumar (34) and Tuntun Rai (47) from Byapur, and Panna Sao from Goraiyasthan, died on the spot. The three injured individuals have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, with one receiving care at the Maner Primary Health Centre (PHC).

According to local residents, approximately 10 people were traveling in the auto. Witnesses reported that the fast-moving auto collided slightly with a car near the Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to plunge into the ditch. Upon receiving information, the police and electricity department teams were called to the scene. Power supply to the LT line was immediately cut off, and the three bodies were recovered from the auto in the ditch. The bodies have been sent to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Maner Station House Officer Rajnish Kumar confirmed the deaths of three individuals and stated that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. Police are also investigating how the electric current spread into the ditch and the circumstances responsible for the tragedy. Authorities have indicated that further action will be taken after the investigation is complete. The incident has cast a pall of grief and chaos over the entire area.
