A significant burglary has been reported at the residence of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in a posh area of Patna. Thieves made off with property worth approximately ₹20 lakh, including cash and jewelry, from the DSP's home. The incident occurred in an area remarkably close to the official residence of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, raising serious questions about the city's security arrangements.

According to reports, the retired DSP and his family were away from home attending a function when the thieves targeted their vacant house. It is believed that the burglars broke the lock to gain entry and thoroughly searched the rooms. They stole cash, gold and silver ornaments, and other valuable items from wardrobes and other secure locations. The total estimated value of the stolen property is around ₹20 lakh.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police promptly arrived at the scene. They inspected the crime spot and gathered details from the victim's family. Police have initiated the process of scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and apprehend the culprits. This incident has once again fueled concerns about the city's security, especially when a senior police officer's home can be so easily targeted, and that too, in such close proximity to the DGP's residence.

Police officials have stated that they are investigating the matter seriously and expect to arrest the accused soon. However, such incidents create a sense of insecurity among the general public. There is a clear need for the police to act swiftly in such cases and strengthen their patrolling and surveillance to prevent similar incidents in the future.
