More than 12 public toilets constructed at a cost of lakhs of rupees in Phullidumar block of Banka district are currently lying unusable. These toilets were built with the aim of promoting cleanliness and making the Open Defecation Free (ODF) campaign successful, but due to lack of water and regular cleaning, they are now turning into ruins.

According to local residents, these toilets were constructed, but no attention was paid to their maintenance. Most of the toilets lack water supply, making their use impossible. The condition of some toilets is so bad that their doors are broken, roofs are damaged, and there is a pile of garbage inside. Due to these unusable toilets, villagers and passers-by are forced to defecate in the open, which is a major setback to the cleanliness campaign.

Villagers said that complaints have been made to the local administration many times, but no concrete steps have been taken yet. They say that on one hand, the government is emphasizing cleanliness, and on the other hand, toilets built by spending lakhs of rupees are being wasted. To make these toilets usable again, it is extremely important to ensure water supply, regular cleaning, and their repair. If attention is not paid to them, they will become completely unusable, and government money will be wasted. The local administration should immediately pay attention to this matter and work towards making these toilets useful for the public.
