A 22-year-old youth, Radhe Kumar, died late Monday night following a dispute over land in the Pirpainti police station area of Bhagalpur district. His family has accused his paternal cousin of attacking him with a 'godal' (a type of agricultural tool). Radhe succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur.

According to family members, the dispute began on Monday afternoon over cutting the boundary of agricultural land near their home. During the altercation, Radhe was struck on the head with a godal, sustaining severe injuries to his head and chest. He was initially taken to Pirpainti Referral Hospital, from where he was referred to Mayaganj Hospital for advanced treatment.

His family alleges that the police did not register an FIR promptly after the incident nor did they investigate the crime scene. Radhe was the third of five brothers. His parents, Basudev Mandal and Sita Devi, support their family through farming and labor, and their financial condition is not sound.

Pirpainti Station House Officer Pankaj Kumar Rawat has described the incident as a 'gotia vivad' (a family or kinship dispute). As of now, the registration of an FIR, the initiation of a police investigation, and the arrest of the accused are still pending. The grieving family is seeking justice.
