Police in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district, have arrested an individual on charges of liquor smuggling. The incident occurred during a routine vehicle check when the suspect, upon seeing the police, attempted to flee. Police personnel immediately gave chase and apprehended him.

According to police sources, a special drive against liquor smuggling is currently underway in the Pirpainti police station area. During this operation, officers observed a suspicious individual who began to run away rapidly upon spotting the police vehicle. The police swiftly pursued him and managed to catch him a short distance away. A search revealed illegal liquor in his possession.

While the identity of the arrested accused has not yet been disclosed, police have registered a case against him under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. During initial interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that he was transporting the liquor for a friend's birthday party. However, police are also investigating whether he is part of a larger liquor smuggling ring or if this was an isolated incident.

Police officials stated that the campaign to curb illegal liquor sales and smuggling in prohibition-bound Bihar will continue. Patrolling has been intensified in Pirpainti and surrounding areas to effectively control such activities. This arrest has reportedly caused a stir among illegal liquor traders in the region.
