Purnea district police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against narcotics, seizing brown sugar worth approximately ₹20 lakh. The operation took place in Lataraha village, under the Barhara Kothi police station in the Dhamdaha subdivision. During the raid, police recovered 104.53 grams of brown sugar.

A couple, identified as Guddu Yadav alias Mukesh Kumar and his wife Kanchan Kumari, were arrested in connection with the seizure. According to the police, the raid was led by Dhamdaha sub-divisional police officer Ajit Pratap Singh Chauhan. The police team targeted a house in Ward No. 4 of Lataraha village.

The recovered contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹20 lakh in the international market. A magistrate and Barhara Kothi Circle Officer Mohan Kumar Sharma were also present during the raid, ensuring all legal protocols were followed. Both accused have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway. This action is considered a crucial step in curbing the illegal drug trade in the region.
