Purnea University and Colleges on Holiday Till Oct 21 for Durga Puja; Exams and PG Admissions to Follow
Purnea University and its affiliated colleges will remain closed until October 21st for Durga Puja, with holidays commencing from October 17th. Following the break, preparations for various undergraduate semester examinations are set to begin from October 22nd. Concurrently, the university will announce the online application dates for postgraduate (PG) admissions for the new academic session after the holidays.
Currently, the PG admission process for the new session is stalled due to the non-declaration of BA, BSc, and BCom Sixth Semester results. Despite the Sixth Semester examinations concluding nearly two months ago, the results have not yet been released, leaving thousands of students in uncertainty about their future.
However, the university has released the results for the BA, BSc, and BCom Honours Yearly Special Part Third examinations after a three-month delay, and the mark sheets (TR) are being sent to colleges. This special examination was conducted to regularize the session and bring promoted or failed students into the mainstream. While these results have brought some hope, students aspiring for postgraduate admissions face difficulties due to the pending undergraduate results.
The university administration stated that the merit list and subsequent application process for PG admissions cannot commence until all pending undergraduate results are declared. This significant delay is preventing students from enrolling in PG programs at their own university or applying to other higher education institutions and competitive examinations.
Purnea University's DSW, Prof. Arvind Kumar Verma, confirmed that the Special Part Third undergraduate results have been released and TRs are being dispatched to colleges. He assured that the Sixth Semester undergraduate examination results would be declared soon. Tabulation work is proceeding on a war footing, and the results will be released immediately after the Durga Puja holidays. The online application process for PG admissions, covering approximately 2200 seats across 20 subjects, will begin after October 22nd, once the Sixth Semester results are out. The university administration is committed to resolving this issue promptly.
