Purnea, Bihar: The future of thousands of students associated with Purnea University hangs in the balance as the results of the Special Part 3 examination have not been declared even after three months. This delay has completely stalled the postgraduate (PG) admission process for the 2026-2028 session. Students are constantly visiting the university and colleges, but are only receiving assurances, leading to a significant waste of their valuable time.

To regularize the academic session and bring promoted or failed students back into the mainstream, the university administration had conducted the BA, BSc, and BCom Honours Yearly Special Part Third 2026 examination. Students from various centers across Katihar and Purnea participated in the exam, hoping for quick results to continue their studies without interruption. However, the examination department's silence for over three months has dashed their hopes.

The biggest consequence of the delayed Part Three results is being faced by students aspiring for PG admissions. Until the special examination results are out, the university administration cannot issue a merit list for PG admissions in the 2026-2028 session, nor can it greenlight the next stage of online applications. This has pushed the entire new academic session to the brink of delay.

This excessive delay has created a significant mental and career crisis for students. Due to the lack of results, students are unable to apply for PG in their own university, nor can they fill out admission forms for other universities or institutions outside the state, as application deadlines are expiring. Consequently, there is a risk of thousands of young people losing an entire academic year, which is particularly distressing for students from poor and middle-class families in Katihar and surrounding areas, who have limited time and resources.

Students and student organizations are deeply dissatisfied with the university administration's attitude. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly protested this issue. ABVP's divisional co-convenor Vikrant Singh, city co-secretaries Ravi Singh and Vishal Singh, have accused the university management of negligence. They have urged the Purnea University examination controller to immediately declare the Special Part Third results to facilitate PG admissions. If the results are not released soon, student protests are likely to intensify.
