Purnia Sadar police station has made a significant bust in a drug trafficking operation, seizing 246.05 kilograms of ganja. Four smugglers from Araria district were arrested on the spot during the operation. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sonu Kumar Mandal, Anant Kumar Mandal, and Avdhesh Mandal, all residents of Bhagkhohliya under Forbesganj police station, Araria, along with Mohammad Khurshid from Amara.

The police also confiscated two four-wheel vehicles and three mobile phones from the accused. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is approximately 1.20 crore rupees. Sadar SDPO-1 Abhinav Parasher provided details of the operation at the Sadar police station on Sunday.

He informed that Additional Station House Officer Shashi Kumar Bhagat received intelligence that ganja was being transported from Forbesganj via Zero Mile, Purnia, to Kursela in a white Scorpio and a grey car. Acting on this tip-off, a special team was formed under the direction of SSP Dr. Shaurya Suman. The team intercepted the vehicles near Gate No. 2 of Gulabbagh Dharmkanta Mandi, where they discovered the large consignment of ganja.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the ganja was sourced from Forbesganj and was intended for delivery in Dummar, located within the Kursela police station area. According to the suspects, the ganja is sold at a rate of approximately 50,000 rupees per kilogram. The police are now investigating further, targeting the owners of the seized vehicles and other individuals involved in this drug network.
