Purnia police have arrested two criminals in two separate operations, recovering a total of 5 country-made pistols, 11 cartridges, one spent casing, and a mobile phone. Police claim that interrogations have revealed details of a large illegal arms trafficking network.

Acting on a tip-off about illegal arms trafficking in the Jalalgarh area on the late night of September 25, a police team, under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Shaurya Suman, raided Sarsauni Ward No. 5. Neeraj Kumar Tatma (24) was arrested from his home, where police found 4 country-made pistols, 11 cartridges, one spent casing, and a mobile phone. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at Jalalgarh police station. Initial investigations suggest links to Kaushal Kumar Bharti of Simalgachhi Ward No. 14, who is currently in jail in connection with a murder case at Kasba police station.

In another incident, police received information about another accused, Ramesh Chauhan, who was subsequently arrested in a raid. One country-made pistol was recovered from him. This case also falls under the Jalalgarh police station area.

Police officials stated that both arrested individuals are being interrogated to ascertain the origin of the weapons, their supply chain, and other individuals involved in the network. The recovered mobile phone is also being investigated. SSP Dr. Shaurya Suman affirmed that special campaigns are continuously being conducted in the district to curb crime and illegal arms trafficking, and these efforts will continue. He emphasized that no one involved in the illegal arms trade would be spared, and strict legal action would be taken against the culprits.
