The Bhagalpur-Hansdiha main road (NH 133E) in Rajaun market, Banka district, remains in a dilapidated condition, with dangerous potholes causing frequent accidents. Despite the monsoon season nearing its end, the stretch from the Chemical Factory in Raipura to Punasiya Bazaar within Rajaun police station limits has not been repaired. The situation is worst in Rajaun market, particularly from Modi Haat to Bus Stand Chowk, where deep potholes resemble a hilly slope, making travel extremely hazardous.

Even light rain turns the road into a waterlogged, muddy mess, obscuring the potholes for drivers. This leads to two-wheelers and e-rickshaws losing balance and overturning, resulting in serious injuries to passengers and pedestrians. Pedestrians also suffer injuries from slipping in the mud along the roadside.

Despite being upgraded from State Highway (SH-19) to National Highway (NH 133E) in 2018, permanent construction has not begun even after approximately 8 years, due to technical issues related to land acquisition. Temporary repairs undertaken before the Shravani Mela were washed away in the first rain, leaving sharp gravel exposed and making the road even more dangerous. Additionally, drains on both sides of the road in Rajaun market are clogged, causing sewage from shops and homes to flow directly onto the main road.

Local shopkeepers, residents, and devotees traveling to Basukinath Dham and Deoghar are forced to endure these abysmal conditions. Locals have urged the Banka district administration to take immediate action, ensure proper drainage, and promptly repair the deadly potholes, especially from Modi Haat to Bus Stand Chowk. Dhruv Kumar, Assistant Engineer of National Highway 133 (E), stated that a four-lane construction project is proposed for this road and is currently under approval. He assured that tender procedures and departmental efforts are being expedited for immediate repairs to ensure safe passage for the public and devotees, and that the potholes will be fixed soon to facilitate smooth traffic.
