An FIR has been lodged against five firecracker traders in Saharsa following raids conducted on October 25 at shops located on DB Road and Shankar Chowk. Sadar SDM Shreyansh Tiwari announced this during a press conference on Wednesday evening. He stated that the Circle Officer of Kahra and deputed Magistrate Niranjan Kumar Mishra filed the FIR against the five traders under relevant sections at Sadar Police Station on Wednesday.
On October 25, a joint team of administration and police raided firecracker shops on DB Road and Shankar Chowk. During the operation, a large quantity of illegal and unrenewed firecrackers were seized. The team also videographed the scene and prepared an inventory of the seized items. Following the raids, the Kahra CO submitted a detailed report to the Sadar SDM. After reviewing the report, the SDM issued a written order to register an FIR against shopkeepers who did not possess valid renewed licenses.
During the investigation, the license of one shopkeeper from Shankar Chowk, Ranjay Kumar, son of Hiralal Prasad, was found to be valid until 2029. Consequently, he was granted relief in the case. The application submitted by the CO to the police station stated that the storage and sale of explosive materials in unlicensed and unrenewed shops constitute a serious and cognizable offense. The administration has also initiated the process of handing over the seized firecrackers on 'zimmanama' (custody bond).
