Road construction in Saharsa district's Mahishi block has been halted due to allegations of illegal encroachment on government land. The issue has reached the District Magistrate, with local residents filing a complaint. According to resident Gaurav Singh, the approximately 1.5-kilometer Gorho Ghat Road, connecting the Gorho Ghat to the main road via the Shiva temple, is crucial for hundreds of families in the area. Its completion would significantly improve connectivity, but the project is now stalled.

Complainants allege that a section of the road has been illegally encroached upon by powerful individuals who have constructed shops and houses on government land, narrowing the road and obstructing construction. Villagers claim that these encroachments are preventing the road construction plan from moving forward. This situation severely impacts the daily commute of hundreds of families, especially during the monsoon season when roads become muddy and difficult to traverse.

Local residents have urged the District Magistrate to intervene immediately and take strict action against the encroachers. They demand that the government land be freed from encroachment and the road construction completed as soon as possible to alleviate the public's suffering. This issue poses a significant challenge for the administration, as development work in the region is being hampered until it is resolved.
