Allegations of large-scale irregularities have surfaced in the construction of Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns in the Saur Bazar block of Saharsa district. Local villagers have demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter from the District Magistrate (DM). Villagers claim that the construction work is plagued by irregularities, raising serious questions about its quality.

According to information, FCI godowns are being built in various areas of Saur Bazar block to enhance grain storage capacity. However, shortly after construction began, locals started complaining about corruption and the use of substandard materials. Villagers allege that the construction work is not adhering to prescribed standards and the contractor is proceeding arbitrarily.

Villagers stated that they tried to draw the attention of concerned officials multiple times, but no concrete action was taken on their complaints. This compelled them to appeal directly to the District Magistrate. Villagers have submitted a memorandum to the DM, demanding a fair and high-level investigation into the entire incident to punish the culprits and ensure the construction of quality godowns.

There has been no official statement from the district administration on the matter yet. However, following the villagers' demand, it is expected that the DM will take cognizance of the issue and order an investigation. FCI godowns are constructed under government schemes, directly related to food security and farmers' interests. Any irregularities in such projects not only constitute misuse of public funds but can also negatively impact grain storage capacity and quality.
