A passenger train (number 63344, Samastipur-Saharsa) caught fire in its engine and three attached coaches at Simri Bakhtiyarpur railway station in Saharsa district, Bihar, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 3 AM when most passengers were asleep. As the train arrived at the station, smoke began to emanate from the engine, and the fire quickly spread to three coaches.

Upon learning of the fire and smoke, chaos erupted inside the train, and passengers immediately began to disembark. All passengers were safely evacuated in time, and there were no casualties reported.

Upon receiving the information, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), local police, and the fire department rushed to the scene and began efforts to extinguish the blaze. After approximately two and a half hours of continuous effort, the fire was brought under control. Rail traffic at Simri Bakhtiyarpur railway station resumed normalcy after 6 AM. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
