A 60-year-old woman, Buchia Devi, was brutally murdered on Friday night at a flood relief shelter in Kumhraghat, under the Satterkataiya block of Saharsha district. The incident, which occurred amidst Diwali celebrations, has sent shockwaves through the community and left villagers deeply saddened. Buchia Devi had been residing at this flood shelter for many years, having made it her home.

According to reports, Buchia Devi had been living at the flood shelter since its construction. Following the demise of her husband, Gonar Mukhia, she lived there alone with her cattle, while other family members resided in their nearby home. Locals were well-acquainted with Buchia Devi.

The murder has led villagers to raise serious questions about the security arrangements at the flood relief camp. Residents allege that after dusk, the shelter became a gathering spot for drug addicts and antisocial elements, with suspicious individuals moving about late into the night. Locals claim to have informed the police about these activities previously. Following Buchia Devi's murder, villagers are demanding that the police swiftly solve the case and apprehend the culprits.
