Police in Samastipur district have made a significant seizure, confiscating foreign liquor worth approximately ₹10 lakh. The consignment was being transported in a truck, cleverly concealed within sacks of urea fertilizer. Acting on a tip-off about a large liquor shipment passing through Samastipur, authorities launched a swift operation that led to this success.

According to reports, police initiated a special checking drive on the national highway within the Dalsinghsarai police station area. During this operation, a suspicious truck was intercepted. Upon inspection, officers were surprised to find hundreds of sacks of urea fertilizer loaded in the truck. Beneath these sacks, a secret chamber had been constructed, meticulously hiding a large quantity of foreign liquor bottles.

Police officials estimate the market value of the seized liquor to be around ₹10 lakh. This operation has foiled the plans of liquor smugglers. Since the implementation of prohibition in Bihar, smugglers have been employing various methods to illicitly transport liquor into the state. They have been caught attempting to smuggle liquor hidden in grain sacks, amidst vegetables, and now, ingeniously, within urea fertilizer bags.

In connection with the seizure, the truck driver has been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation. Police are working to ascertain the origin and intended destination of the consignment, as well as to identify other individuals involved in this smuggling syndicate. Authorities affirm that such operations will continue relentlessly to ensure the success of the liquor ban.
