A distressing incident has come to light in Samastipur district, where a 7-month-old baby girl was found abandoned on the roadside near Sarairanjan PHC. Local residents spotted the child and immediately informed the Sarairanjan police station. Police arrived at the scene and safely took the baby into custody.

The police then handed over the infant to the Childline team, who subsequently transported her to Sadar Hospital Samastipur for better medical care. Currently, the baby is undergoing treatment in the ICU of Sadar Hospital, and a team of doctors is continuously monitoring her health.

Members of the Childline team, including coordinator Shankar Kumar Mallik, supervisor Kundan Kumar, and case workers Juhi Kumari, Khushboo Kumari, and Asha Kumari Das, reached the Sarairanjan police station to take the child into their protection. Shankar Kumar Mallik stated that they received information from the Sarairanjan police station about the recovery of an infant near the PHC.

Childline case worker Juhi Kumari expressed sorrow over the incident, calling it extremely concerning to abandon such a young child on the roadside. She commended the prompt action of local residents, which led to the child's rescue. She emphasized that if the child had not been noticed in time, a tragic incident could have occurred.

Police and the Childline team are investigating to ascertain who abandoned the child and under what circumstances. Police have also mentioned that a woman is absconding. After completing necessary health check-ups and medical procedures at Sadar Hospital, the baby will be transferred to Mamta Shishu Grih, where arrangements for her proper care, safety, and nutrition will be made.
