Anganwadi workers and assistants in Samastipur's Ujiarpur block staged a protest on Tuesday at the CDPO office premises under the banner of the Bihar State Employees Union, pressing for various demands. Led by Block President Reena Kumari, a large number of workers participated in the demonstration. Their primary demand was the immediate payment of their honorarium, which has been pending for the past seven months, leading to significant financial hardship.

The Anganwadi workers highlighted that they are required to perform departmental tasks on various portals, often using their personal mobile phones. Citing the rising cost of living, they demanded that the department provide them with 5G mobile phones for official work. Furthermore, the union called for an increase in the honorarium to Rs 25,000 per month for Anganwadi workers. Other demands included the promotion of Anganwadi workers to the post of Women Supervisors, the appointment of Anganwadi assistants as Anganwadi workers, and the provision of gratuity benefits.

Following the protest, a five-member delegation submitted a memorandum detailing their demands to CDPO Rajni Kumari. The event saw the presence of numerous Anganwadi workers and assistants, including Secretary Anima Kumari, Rekha Kumari, Seema Devi, Mridula Kumari, Saraswati Kumari, Lalita Devi, Munni Kumari, Veena Kumari, Usha Devi, Kamini Kumari, Hema Kumari, Rupa Kumari, Sudha Kumari, Indu Kumari, Kanti Sinha, and Ranju Mala.
