Samastipur: 3 Lakh Looted from CSP in Broad Daylight, Villagers Recover Weapons After Scuffle
In a daring daylight robbery on Tuesday afternoon, four armed criminals looted ₹3 lakh from a Customer Service Point (CSP) in Samastipur district. The incident occurred on the main road leading from Surauli Shahpur Bridge towards Dalsinghsarai, within the Vibhutipur police station area. The robbers entered the CSP, held operator Vivek Kumar hostage, and assaulted him before fleeing with the cash through the back door.
After the robbery, Vivek Kumar, with the help of local villagers, pursued the culprits. A scuffle ensued between the villagers and the criminals. During the confrontation, the robbers pointed a country-made pistol (katta) at one villager. However, the brave villagers managed to snatch two kattas from the criminals, though the robbers ultimately escaped with the money.
Vivek Kumar recounted that the criminals immediately locked the front door upon entering and opened the back door. They assaulted him when he resisted. Hearing the commotion, locals gathered, prompting the robbers to flee through the back. A neighboring shopkeeper, Sarvan Kumar Pandit, attempted to stop them, but the criminals pointed a katta at him. Seeing this, another villager, Sunil, intervened, leading to a prolonged scuffle where the villagers disarmed the robbers.
Upon receiving the information, a police team from 112 reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The CSP operator informed the police that the criminals also took the CCTV cameras during the loot. SDPO Sanjay Kumar Sinha stated that the police are working to identify and apprehend the culprits swiftly, and necessary actions have been initiated.
